The short version
Some links on this site point to retailers. If you click one and buy something, we may receive a small commission. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid otherwise — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.
Where these links appear
Affiliate links can appear in buying guides, product articles and comparisons. A disclosure notice appears at the top of every article on this site, automatically, so you never have to hunt for it or take our word that we remembered to add it.
How it affects our recommendations
It does not determine them. Specifically:
- We recommend products we would recommend without a commission, including ones that pay us nothing.
- We recommend against products where appropriate, including ones that pay well.
- We accept no payment from any manufacturer in exchange for coverage or for a favourable conclusion.
- Commission rates play no part in ordering or ranking within a guide.
We are aware that saying this is easy and that you have no way to verify it. The check available to you is the reasoning: every recommendation on this site shows why, in enough detail that you could reach a different conclusion from the same facts. A recommendation that only asserts is one you should distrust, here or anywhere.
